Homme Sues Over Kyuss Name

Josh Homme is suing two of his former Kyuss bandmates over their decision to reactivate the band.

Kyuss reunited in 2010 without the Queens Of The Stone Age leader. But the line-up did feature John Garcia, Scott Reeder, Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri. They decided to use the name Kyuss Lives! in Homme’s absence. But it seems Homme has issues even with this choice.

Attempts to reach a mutual agreement with all concerned have now led to Homme and Reeder on one side, and Garcia and Bjork on the other. Meanwhile, Oliveri is currently occupied with a court case following an armed stand-off with police last summer.

Now Homme/Reeder are suing Garcia/Bjork on the grounds of alleged trademark infringement and consumer fraud. They’ve issued the following statement about this decision:

“With open arms, we made every attempt to help them continue Kyuss Lives! respectfully, only to discover while they looked us in the eye, Kyuss Lives’ management and band had filed federal documents in 2011 in an attempt to steal the name Kyuss… It’s a sad day for us and for John – but most of all for the fans.”

So far there’s been no reaction from Garcia and Bjork.
