Pink Floyd Album Still Has Most Weeks On US Chart

Pink Floyd still have the album which has spent more weeks than any other in history on the American charts. That’s according to the latest Billboard estimates.

It will come as no surprise that the album in question is 1973’s Dark Side Of The Moon, which has so far clocked up an astonishing 800 weeks in the Top 200. That’s nearly double what any other record has achieved.

While most of the other albums to have been on the charts for over 250 weeks are a combination of mainstream pop and soundtrack releases, Metallica have the ninth longest run, with The Black Album notching up 282 weeks to date.

It’s not such good news here in the UK, where Adele’s album 21 has overtaken Dark Side Of The Moon in the biggest-selling albums of all time list. The former is at No.7; the latter is at No.8. The top spot is currently held by Queen’s Greatest Hits.
