Tom Petty Offers Reward For Nicked Guitars

Tom Petty is offering $7,500 (£4,700) for the return of guitars which were stolen from the Soundstage in Culver City, California where he has been rehearsing.

The stolen items are said to include Petty’s 1967 12-string blonde Rickenbacker 360 and his 1965 Gibson SGTV Junior, as well as guitars belonging to Heartbreakers bassist Ron Blair, rhythm guitar player Scott Thurston and lead guitarist Mike Campbell.

“We’d like these back… no questions asked,” said Petty.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are about to embark on a European tour, so it certainly would be handy to have some instruments.

They will make their first visit to the UK in over 20 years with dates set for London’s Royal Albert Hall (June 18 and 20) and the Isle of Wight Festival (June 22).
