Rodgers Doubts Lambert Can Front Queen

Former collaborator Paul Rodgers knows playing with Queen is a dream come true for Adam Lambert – but isn’t sure the talent-show star has got what it takes to tour.

Talking to Spinner magazine, the ex-Free/Bad Company frontman – who played with Brian May and Roger Taylor in Queen + Paul Rodgers – commented:

“It’s probably a dream come true for Adam, but I wonder if he has the groundwork to see him through a big tour with those guys.”

Lambert was due to front Queen at the now-cancelled Sonisphere Festival. Instead, the band will now play two dates at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in July.

Rodgers also reflected on his experience with Q+PR in the interview:

“We parted the best of friends and I wish them every success. We’ll do a couple of gigs in the future. That’s where we left it.

“Being in a band is all-consuming and I like to have a life. After leaving Queen I decided to stop doing those mega-four-month tours. I go out for a month and my dog recognises me when I come home.”
