SERJ TANKIAN TAKES ON CORPORATE AMERICA IN ‘FIGURE IT OUT’ MUSIC VIDEO

System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian joins the 99% in their fight against greed and corruption in his new music video for ‘Figure It Out.’

Tankian’s discord with corporate America can be heard loud and clear in the first single from his forthcoming album ‘Harikiri.’ “Why pretend that we don’t know / C.E.O.s are the disease,” Serj sings defiantly on ‘Figure It Out.’ “It’s a comical political song talking about abusive capitalism and the differences created in economic stature and the reaction to it. CEOs have gotten away with murder, until now,” Tankian tells Noisecreep of the new track.

The new music video for the 99% battle cry, shows Tankian performing with his non-System solo band — although he will tour with SOAD this summer — mixed with footage of corporate bankers splashing champagne at a bailout party. Eventually, Serj grabs hold of the camera and brings the ruckus to the celebration — busting down the doors and holding his very own class war in the boardroom.

Serj’s third solo album is set to hit stores on July 10 and, true to form, is all over the map stylistically. “I just can’t see myself ever sticking to one kind of music, or art form,” says Tankian. Those hungry for a System of a Down album will have to wait a little longer, as the vocalist recently said “it hasn’t been that time yet, so I think everyone will know when it is.”
