Neville MacDonald quits Skin

skinSkin frontman Neville MacDonald has left the band with immediate effect, forcing them to call off their 20th anniversary tour and Download festival appearance.

He says in a brief statement: “For deep, personal reasons, I have quit the band. Those closest to me fully understand my reasons and have been unswerving in their support; something I am truly grateful for.

“To you, our fans, I extend my sincere apologies and, of course, my gratitude. Your support over the last few years has been nothing short of overwhelming and I thank you so much for that. I love you all – keep on rockin’.”

Skin say they have no additional information to offer at present, and fans should consult their ticket vendors for refunds.

Guitarist Myke Gray’s other band, the Red White And Blues, have cancelled their own appearance at Download. They’d also been due to support Skin on the tour. They say: “The band are obviously upset at letting their fans down but it’s due to circumstances beyond their control.”

Skin split up in 1998 after failing to achieve the breakthrough they’d hoped for. They got back together in 2009 to play at that year’s Download event, and released studio album Breaking The Silence the following year. They separated afterwards, but hit the stage again in 2012 to support Little Angels on their reunion tour. Toby Jepson’s outfit have said their upcoming shows in Cardiff, Cambridge and the Isle Of Wight festival will be their last.
