THE ROCKING JOURNEY ROLLS TO AN END AT THE GARRICK THEATRE

Lighters at the ready to hold aloft as following 15 months of face-melting at the Shaftesbury Theatre and a year at the Garrick Theatre, the producers of ROCK OF AGES THE MUSICAL have announced it is to close on Saturday 2nd November 2013, prior to embarking on a UK national tour. So, just three months left to catch this story of love, lust, leopard-skin and leather, all played out to a soundtrack of THE best rock songs of the 80’s.

You are probably aware of how much Rock-Zone UK love this show – my first review is here https://www.rock-zone.co.uk/2012/04/23/rock-of-ages-shaftesbury-theatre-london/ and then I went again earlier this year, following their move to the even more rocking Garrick Theatre https://www.rock-zone.co.uk/2013/03/12/rock-of-ages-the-garrick-theatre-london/.

The thing is – I’m still addicted and the news of the closure hit me hard. However, all is not lost as the plan is to tour the UK. All we can say is “Don’t Stop Believin'”….however, you still have 3 months to get your (LED) lighters in the air at the Garrick and see the show that the writer, Chris D’Arienzo, created so we could ALL love musicals.

ROCK OF AGES THE MUSICAL opened on 31st August 2011 at the Shaftesbury Theatre and went onto win the 2011 BroadwayWorld ‘Best Musical’ West End Award. Since then it has since been seen by almost ½ million people, including Alice Cooper, Britney Spears, Adam Garcia, Kimberley Wyatt, Cilla Black and Jeremy Clarkson, all dusting down their leathers, back-combing their hair and waving their lighters in the air.

Featuring some of the greatest hits of the 80’s, including ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’, ‘Don’t Stop Believin’, ‘Here I Go Again’, and ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’, the five-time Tony nominated musical is now booking until 2nd November 2013 at the Garrick Theatre.
