Backyard Babies will return, vows Dregen

backyardbabiesDregen has vowed the Backyard Babies will make another album, and says the band members are all on good terms.

But he hasn’t confirmed when they’ll get back together, and meanwhile, he’s concentrating on his debut solo record and his duties as a member of Michael Monroe’s band.

The Swedish glam punks last toured in 2009, in support of compilation album Them XX, released to mark their 20th anniversary.

Dregen tells Uber Rock: “The relations are good with the Backyard Babies members. I can promise you there’s going to be another album.

“But I’m 100% into my solo project right now, so I can’t say when that might happen.

“We can go in tomorrow and start recording a pretty good album – but I don’t say any point. In a year or so we’ll be ready to make the ultimate Backyard Babies statement.”

Dregen’s self-titled solo debut was released via Spinefarm earlier this month. He says: “I’m not a guitar player that can play whatever – I’m not a master of the guitar.

“I think that saved me, actually, because I have my own style and my own tone, and I can’t really do anything else. I think that’s what holds the album together. Even if the songs are different, you can hear from my guitar playing that it’s very much me, that it’s a Dregen album.”

He recently rejoined Monroe to shoot a video for upcoming single Stained Glass Heart, before returning to work on his solo tour. “I’m going to be back in Michael’s band at some point,” he says, “But I don’t know how long I’ll be away for.”

Dregen briefly tours the UK in December with Imperial State Electric:

Dec 1: Glasgow Cathouse
Dec 2: London Borderline
Dec 3: Bristol Fleece
