Black Stone Cherry have revealed guitarist Ben Wells was baptised by frontman Chris Robertson just before Christmas – but they say it’s not a publicity stunt and they’re not aiming to force their beliefs down fans’ necks.
The band, who are currently at work on their fourth album, posted the above photo of the ceremony, which took place at their local church, showing Wells and Robertson assisted by their pastor.
They say: “We hope this photo will encourage anyone in need of inner peace. We’re not crazy ‘Bible thumpers’ but we do love us some Jesus!
“This isn’t a stunt, nor is it a political religious move. This is simply a public display of what we are proud of. If just one person is affected by this in a positive way, that’s what it’s all about.”
BSC add: “We love y’all and can’t wait to get back on stage this year and melt your face clean off your face.”
The band tour the UK next month to deliver a series of “unique and special” shows featuring fan-picked sets and question-and-answer sessions.
