Insane Clown Posse Lose Suit Over FBI’s Gang Label of Juggalos

Insane-Clown-PosseInsane Clown Posse have been denied in their attempts to wipe clean an FBI report that labeled the band’s Juggalos fan base as a “gang.” The group had filed a federal lawsuit asking for the removal of the Juggalos from the report, stating that “Juggalos” is a reference to fans of the band’s music and not representative of the criminal status associated with those on the FBI’s gang list.

The band had stated that their fans were being targeted as a result of the association with the list. However, according to the Associated Press, Detroit federal judge Robert Cleland ruled that the government isn’t responsible for acts by local police agencies that use the report.

According to the FBI’s National Gang Intelligence Center in their 2011, the Juggalos were classified as “a loosely organized hybrid gang.” As soon as the report came out, the band began gathering information on how their fans had been targeted by law enforcement as a result of the classification and eventually put together their case in order to protect their fans.

The lawsuit was filed by ICP’s Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope in January of this year. At the time, Violent J stated, “We don’t know if we can beat the FBI, but we’re damn sure not gonna sit here and accept it.” The suit was officially dismissed last week.
