Drew Stevyns – Please Excuse The Machine CD Review

Drew Stevyns – Please Excuse The Machine

There isnt many times these days that an artist can make me stop what I’m doing and literally exclaim “OH EM GEE!” but that’s exactly what happened when, whilst trawling through Youtube (Looking for Seether videos!) I accidentally clicked on a video of this guy covering ‘Careless Whisper’. I sat and immediately went to his youtube page to watch more and ‘Overboard’ is the song that made my jaw drop! 5 minutes after that I was the proud owner of the album download through CD Baby (Yes I paid for an album instead of begging a freebie for review THATS how much I like this dude!!)

It’s been such a long time since I’ve come across an unknown (to me) band and totally fallen in love with their music, today I did just that! The CD is fabulous from beginning to end with belters like ‘Pawn’ and ‘Legend’, which are perfectly counter-balanced with gorgeous melodic tunes like the bluesy ‘Set Me Free’ and the beautiful love-struck ‘Alison’.

Please Excuse The Machine is a compilation of genius song-writing, fantastic musicians and a beautiful vocalist melded together into this luscious 13-song album. There is a song for every taste on here but if I had to compare to anyone itd be a heavier, more intense Chad Kroger or Tyler Connolly.

To have a look at what Im raving about check out this video of snippets of the album songs then go and buy it! You wont regret it!
My album of the year so far!
10/10
