LINDA & THE PUNCH – “Obsession”

Wow! Linda is 21 years and hot to rock! After finishing successful her school exams ´Linda´ has devoted her life to music and now with her band ´The Punch´ she is ready to take over the world.

Her style is fresh and wild and can be described as ´Pink meets Pat Benatar´. We have hard hitting choruses and powerful riffs backed with a solid rhythm section and great production. Songs like “What a shame” and “Bite” are stand out examples of what to expect from this talented young lady.

What there is here are 11 tracks of melodic rock quality (with a huge dollop of pop catchiness) that belies both her age and the description. Certainly worth a punt, even the cover of “Because the Night” brings something new to the party. It would be nice to see this band in the live environment. The only less than positive element is that the album consists of songs written by outsiders – Steve McEwan (Robbie Willams, Foreigner, Roger Daltrey), Herman Rarebell (Scorpions) and Tommy Denander (Paul Stanley). Don’t get me wrong, all of the above signify great quality but what happens when the sheen of the new wears away. Can Linda and the Punch replicate the quality on more albums? I will be giving them the chance to find out but still think it might make the difficult second album even harder.

Linda and the Punch are like a breath of fresh air in today’s complex rock world, and this brand new 11 track album is just what we all need to liven up the scene.
