Matt Sorum On GnR Hall Of Fame Reunion: You Never Know

Theres speculation mounting that Guns N Roses induction into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame could be the catalyst that finally leads to a reunion, and former GnR drummer Matt Sorum has responded to the gossip in a new interview.

Weve been waiting for a credible reason for Guns N Roses to get back together for about a bazillion years now, and with the band nominated for a 2012 induction into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame, speculation has inevitably kicked back into overdrive.

Former GnR drummer Matt Sorum has spoken to Aussie radioTriple M about the possibility of a reunion, and why itll always hang on whether Axl and Slash can actually bury the hatchet or not.

You never know, says the sticksman. Usually the way it works with Guns N Roses is that its gotta be about Slash and Axl first, which has been a little bit of a problem. Duff [McKagan, bass] playedwith Axl and actually Duff was gonna go out on tour with Axl.

On Axl continuing to use the Guns name while on tour with his own band, Matt adds, Im not saying Im an original member, okay, but I understand the core of the band, which is Slash and Duff and probably Izzy. Its a shame, and you know what, this goes back to a Paul McCartney thing. Does he call himself The Beatles? Not saying we were as big as The Beatles, but does Sting call himself The police? No. Does Jimmy Page and Robert Plant go out there calling themselves Led Zeppelin? Nope.

Axl Rose has been active touring with the current incarnation of Guns N Roses which has, of course, meant plenty of controversy and cancelled shows. Standard.
