Music: REM guitarist channels the Cramps on new solo offering

REM guitarist Peter Buck recently premiered a solo track called 10 Million BC on New Jersey radio station WFMU.

Let’s face it, REM can be somewhat (make that very) po-faced at times, so Buck’s song provides a perhaps surprising bit of light-hearted lunacy.

Sludgier than a swathe of rock-festival mud after a 24-hour monsoon, this grimy blues-rockin’ toon augers well for the rest of Buck’s album.
