H.E.A.T. – II – ALBUM REVIEW

I kick off my 2020 album reviews off in style with a band, H.E.A.T. who i have championed since their debut release back in 2008, to their latest ‘II’ which is due for release through EAR MUSIC on February 21st. The album is produced by band members Dave Dalone and Jona Tee, and for me harks back to that sensational debut that got me hooked on the band, and to this day remains my personal favourite.

I can honestly say throughout their career, H.E.A.T. have delivered release upon release of quality hook laden melodic rock of the highest order, and with ‘II’ it just might take the guys to the next level.

Opening Track ‘Rock Your Body’ gets proceedings off to a great start, with its catchy chorus and early TALISMAN vibe about it, and im sure will be a real winner in the live arena. ‘Dangerous Ground’ featuring its faultless vocals from livewire frontman, Erik Gronwall, and some tasty riffs from Dave ‘The Hat ‘ Dalone, that takes me back to the band early releases.

Latest single, the immense, ‘Come Clean’ with soaring vocals from Gronwall and a great rhythm section of Don Crash on drums and Jimmy Jay on bass, is absolutely superb, this album just gets better and better. ‘Victory’ featuring great keyboards from Jona Tee, and the DIO esque ‘We are Gods’ drives this album through to another standout track , the melodic masterpiece ‘Adrenaline’.

One thing that H.E.A.T. do really well is deliver huge , powerful, and in your face rockers, and in ‘One By One’ they have written one of their best. From start to finish ‘One By One’ oozes class, and showcases Scandanavian Melodic Rock at the highest level, its such an immense tune, that Erik Gronwall absolutely nails.

‘Nothing To Say’ is another gem of a track , with more great guitar work from Dave Dalone, and the wonderful ‘ Heaven Must Have Won An Angel’ takes us to ‘Under The Gun’ which reminds me of another great Scandi band, and AOR Gods SKAGARACK. With final song of this epic release ‘Rise’ with its great hooks and stellar vocals bringing the album to a close.

H.E.A.T have delivered a truly brilliant album, that cements ‘II’ as an outstanding release and will be the one to beat in 2020, making it an essential purchase for the Melodic Rock community .
